SLA printing does a nice job in getting high detail prints but it aint that strong and on bigger parts you have the risk of warping. For a display or simple cosplay prop its perfect but if you want a functional blow back replica it wont hold a single shot.
Because I wanted this prop to be a functional air soft replica I ordered the parts in P12 Nylon printed on a SLS printer. Laser sintering is nothing more then a powder that gets hit with a laser
and it melts, repeat that in many layers of 2D images you get an object. This is currently one of the best and strongest ways to print parts and its expensive. Also its a delicate process and
when they reuse left over powder without mixing it with new powder you get bad prints like this.
Layering is not strong and gets fragile like here, the nozzle and the top cap snapped. The machine havent been calibrated well as you can see there have been some layer shifts so this 3rd party
shop was a bad one.
NOTE: these prints are not polished yet, its a service you can add to the order but I am getting a polish tumbler myself to deal with stuff like this to save a good
buck.
I went to https://craftcloud3d.com/ to find an affordable 3rd party shop but I think I got what I paid for. This doesn't mean that you
can find a good shop there, its a bit of a gamble and very good ones are often around. Maybe next time I will go for a website with a shop rating system.
Atm. I am trying to get an refund for these prints so I can try a different seller.
